Hi, my name is Phil and I am 18 years old. Just experiencing life for the first time.

Appreciation?

We all want good things to happen to us but when they do happen to us instead of being appreciative of what had happened, we overlook it and then continue to crave for more good things to happen. One wrong thing could easily overthrow all the good that has ever happened because all we want is good things. That’s when we’re willing to let the bad outweigh the good and base our decisions on this. We’re a little too selfish and need to consider a bit more whether the good was good enough for us to make us overlook the bad - at least just for this one time.

My rule for forgiving people

It’s simple; first time I’ll let you off but there’ll be no second time. I’m a reasonable person and I understand everyone has their moments and a mistake is inevitable - so, if you screw me over once, then I’m willing to forgive you but if you do it again, don’t be surprised if we don’t talk as often.

Making that second mistake obviously means that you didn’t learn anything from the first one, so the chances of it happening for a third, fourth or fifth time is just as high as the second time. Forgive but don’t forget.

I want to be 18 forever.

The perfect divide between being a kid and an adult. Young enough to act like a kid, old enough to get drunk and party, but not too old yet to worry about paying bills, moving out or children. Being 18 is the best.

Say nice things

It doesn’t hurt to say nice things about people. You never know how much it’d mean to someone if you compliment them or point out something nice about them. Albert Einstein said ”if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it can’t.” Similarly, imagine someone who grew up hearing all the bad things about themselves; how much of a blow would that be to their self-esteem? What I’m trying to say is that, it doesn’t take a lot of effort to say nice things about people so do it more often - you’d feel better too!
